Evoking Realities

January-December 2022
Soma, Mexico City

Evoking Realities
is a research and residency project at SOMA (Mexico City, January-December 2022) that aims to consider spirituality as embodied territory for artistic and political action. Can spirituality redefine bodies and re-enchant the world, affirming new processes of subjectification and sustaining an ethics of otherness?
By building a platform for dialogue between different historical periods and artistic practices—the Clarismo at Monte Verità, the Goddess Movement within the American feminist movement, the Mexican Polvo de Gallina Negro, Tlacuilas y retrateras and Grupo Bio-Arte groups, Living Theatre and contemporary artistic researches—the project investigates the possibility of spirituality to generate discursive alliances between ecological instances, life reforms and political and gender claims.
Collaborating with the international partners involved, shared study paths, talks, public programs, studio visits and online publications will be create with the aim of developing working relationships and publicly sharing the outcomes of the residency.

    - Monte Verità Foundation
The public restitution at the Monte Verità Foundation consisted of the creation of a curatorial research platform that aimed to reconsider and reread Monte Verità's art-historical legacy, constructing an unprecedented sonic cartography of the place through the sole use of sound and vibrations produced by bodies. Cartography is a tool for constructing localized maps of thought that are composed by resonance and can be inhabited. Voices, movements, music and words are disconnected from their logical explanatory capacity to become vibrations capable of producing desires conveyed by the corporealities that share them and that will inhabit Mount Truth.
With: Nicoletta Mongini, Yara Li Mennel, Anna Rigamonti, Natalie Peters, Ilenia Caleo, Lara Dâmaso, Lumpen Station, Andrea Marioni.
